About me
Hey There!
I’m Joana, the author of Like a Busy Bee and I’m so happy you are here! I’m also a wife and a mom to a sweet little boy, who was born in 2021. I’ve always loved everything related to organization, productivity, and budgeting. Therefore, you can expect lots of information in this blog about these topics, as well as about motherhood (which is my most recent passion ♥).
I love being a mom and I want to cherish all the moments I have with my son because, as you know, time flies and kids grow way too fast. Motherhood is a wonderful thing, with its highs and lows of course, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It is beautiful but it can be hard!
I used to consider myself an organized person, but after getting married and having my son I started to feel that maybe I wasn’t as organized as I thought. Or at least, my organization systems and productivity strategies were not compatible with this new stage of my life.
I found myself questioning how capable I was to get everything done (being a wife, being a new mom, keeping the house clean and tidy, having meals planned, keeping up with my work life,… ), questioning if I was doing enough for my baby, if I was being a good mother… if I was doing enough to get the job done. If you’ve ever felt like this, or if you are feeling this way, don’t worry! You’re definitely not alone. I get it! Sometimes it can be frustrating and overwhelming. I understand and I’m right there with you! And by the way, I’m sure you’re doing great!!
Truth is that these feelings are TOTALLY NORMAL!!…
When you feel overwhelmed by the struggles of daily life and motherhood, you start to question everything you do. But there isn’t one right way to be a mom and there isn’t one right way for someone to be organized and productive. It really depends on what works for you and your family. And even with the best organization and productivity systems in place there will be days when you can feel like you’re not doing enough or that you can’t do anything right. We can easily find ourselves focusing on the negative stuff and forgetting how blessed we are for all that we have. The best we can do is exactly that… OUR BEST! Doing our best with what we know right now. Good news is that our best can always improve, and we can get better and better at anything we do! You just need to believe in yourself and put your mind to it. I know this is not always easy, and it’s definitely easier said than done, but I’m right here trying to do the same, and we can do it together! One step at a time…
Life can be busy!! Especially when you’re not just looking after yourself and your things anymore, but after a whole family. And especially when you are sleep deprived and always feeling that there is not enough time in the day to do all the things you have to do. It can be quite overwhelming!
If you struggle with this, just remember that things don’t need to be perfect! Lots of organization and productivity systems are not realistic, at least not for me! They certainly are visually perfect but most of them are really high maintenance and don’t last long… at least in my house! My goal is to share practical and functional tips and tools that can help you get the job done, and still look pretty. I will strive to share the different solutions that are out there while giving you my personal view on what works best for me and my family. So you can find the best fit for you too.
I’m also a planner, which means that I like to know what is going to happen so I can prepare for it. However, this is not always possible, and when you have kids you need to be prepared for unexpected things to happen, and you need to learn to adapt your plans to these changes. This has definitely been a process for me!

Being a planner, I like to think ahead and plan for the future. Establishing financial goals, budgeting and keeping track of my personal finances has always been very important to me. When I got my job after college, my first goal was to pay off my student loan. By keeping track of my spending, budgeting and learning how to save money I was able to pay it off, and now I can say that I am… DEBT FREE! Woohoo!!
If you’re interested in learning how to save money, make more money, and maybe get out of debt as well, I’m happy to share all the tips and tricks that I think are worth trying to help you achieve your financial goals!
I created this blog to document my journey on how to get more organized, be more productive, and be more intentional with the way I spend my time and my money, so I can achieve my personal and professional goals without compromising quality time with my family.
Join the journey if you’re also interested in getting productivity and budgeting tips and tools to better manage your time and money. As well as, lots of home organization ideas, practical systems, and motherhood tips to help you get your daily life under control!
